Scones

Mike's grandmother on his dad's side passed on her recipe for scones to Mike's mom. There was a little smudge in the writing, and somehow the butter was quadrupled from the original recipe. Well, I happen to be a big fan of the butter, and it seems that everyone else is, too, so the megadose of butter stayed. Yay! I make my scones smaller than Mike's mom does so I'm amending my recipe to follow what I do.

Here they are, all golden and delicious:

Scones

Preheat oven to 375F

4 cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup raisins
1 stick butter
2 eggs, beaten
enough buttermilk to hold together

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl adding small amounts of buttermilk until the dough is workable.

Roll small balls and place on cookie sheet and bake for 15-18 minutes.

Makes about 3 dozen small scones.
