I've never covered a cake in fondant before today, but since yesterday was my mom's birthday, and I was in charge of the cake, I thought I'd give it a try. I bought ready-made fondant for everything and just rolled it out. I wasn't as bad as I thought, but there were still a couple small pleats around the bottom. Still, I'm pretty happy with it for my first try. The cake is Betty Crocker devil's food, and I made some vanilla buttercream to frost it with.

I just cut out the flowers with a shaped fondant cutter. My co-worker, Aliya, had some leftover pre-tinted pink and was kind enough to give it to me. I think they came out pretty cute. Happy Birthday, Mom!!Actually, I wasn't happy with the way my first cake domed so I made another. Yeah, I made 2 cakes. I didn't want to try to ram candles through my fondant so I mixed up some cinnamon buttercream frosting for cake #2:
